Welcome

Friends,

In 2022-2023, the College of Graduate Studies achieved significant milestones. Our admissions team processed an impressive 12,176 applications and extended offers of admission to 7,453 exceptional candidates, resulting in 4,603 new graduate students joining our graduate community. Our enrollment numbers remained strong, with over 9,200 students enrolled in our 200+ graduate programs. Of these, 1,800 were supported through assistantships, ensuring they had the resources they needed for academic success.

To enhance efficiency, we streamlined our diploma distribution process. As of Spring 2022, both print and digital diplomas are now distributed through Parchment. This not only expedited the delivery of credentials but also allowed our graduates to proudly showcase their UCF accomplishments on social media platforms.

Our commitment to growing the postdoctoral scholar program has been highly successful. Over the past six years, we’ve seen a substantial increase, from 75 postdocs (70 in STEM) in 2016 to an impressive 196 (144 in STEM) by Fall 2022. In June 2023, we introduced the Short-Term Postdoc Support (STePS) program to reach a target of 200 postdocs. We made significant progress toward this goal by the end of the year, underscoring our dedication to excellence in graduate education.

The Office of Graduate Student Life played a pivotal role in supporting graduate students, offering comprehensive services, and hosting events at the Graduate Student Center.

We awarded over 185 graduate students with competitive fellowships, covering stipends, tuition remission, and health insurance. These included prestigious fellowships like the ORCGS Doctoral Fellowship, discipline-specific awards, and initiatives like the Graduate Dean’s Dissertation Completion Fellowship and the NSF Graduate Research Fellowship program.

The establishment of the Graduate Student Advisory Council proved to be a dynamic force in promoting inclusivity, enhancing student well-being, and recognizing outstanding research. Representing various disciplines and study modes, the council achieved significant outcomes, including the initiation of the Award for Excellence by a Graduate Student Researcher.

The UCF College of Graduate Studies commitment to excellence, efficiency, financial support, and community building has resulted in a transformative impact on graduate education, empowering students and fostering a vibrant and inclusive academic community.
