Intent to Graduate

Check to see if you’re eligible for graduation by reviewing your Graduate Plan of Study (GPS) on myUCF.

To receive your degree, you must file your Intent to Graduate (ITG).  Only students who submit their ITGs on time will be permitted to participate in that semester’s commencement ceremonies, so please pay careful attention to the deadlines.

Summer 2026: File your Intent to Graduate before June 26, 2026

(loading…)

When you file your ITG, this alerts the university to check that you meet all graduation requirements, and, if so, to award your degree.  Filing your ITG “on time” (within the window of time posted above) is also required to participate in the commencement ceremony.

Students must file an ITG for each graduate program and each graduate certificate program they plan to earn in a given semester. Complete this step in myUCF. In addition to alerting us to your intent to graduate, you will also verify that your name and address are correct in your student record and complete an exit survey.

If you miss the deadline for filing your ITG, you may file a Late ITG to receive your degree that semester. Please meet with your Graduate Program Director or advisor for additional information. You may not participate in commencement that semester, but you may participate in a future commencement ceremony (up to 3 semesters following graduation).

Application: Students must apply for the certificate through SATE and be admitted.
A student cannot earn a certificate if
they never apply. Even if they have
accomplished all the coursework. A
student must be formally admitted to the certificate program.

Certificate ITG:
An ITG must be filed by the
graduating term deadline

Before the degree program is finished:
Once the student is in the final course for the certificate, they can file an ITG to have the certificate awarded.

At the same time as the degree program: If the certificate courses are complete, students can wait to file NO LATER than the semester they are earning their degree program to file an ITG for both.

Program ITG:
An ITG for each individual program must be on file by the graduating term deadline.

After the degree program:
Students can complete a certificate as a “Certificate Only” student if they graduate with the degree but still have courses remaining for the certificate
