Question:

What happens if I get an enrollment error?

Answer:

If you receive a red X when enrolling in a course, first read the error message that accompanies it. If the course is full, then you’ll want to enroll in a backup class and keep checking to see if a student drops the course. You may need to talk with your program or advisor to discuss an alternative course option. If the message indicates a prerequisite error, you’ll need to check with the College that owns the course, as they manage their own prerequisites. Some common errors include:

Thesis or Dissertation Hours – Students must have an approved committee on file with CGS before they will be approved for registration for these courses. This process is completed using Dynamic Forms. Dissertation hours also require admission to candidacy.

Course Overrides – Students should contact the College that owns the course to request a code for successful registration.

Term Activation Error – This error occurs if a student was dropped for non-payment for the current semester, which temporarily disables future enrollment eligibility. Students should contact the Registrar’s Office to pay their fee, restoring eligibility for enrollment.

If none of these apply to your situation, please contact your graduate program.
