International Admissions Requirements
In addition to meeting the minimum admission requirements outlined by the university, international applicants must also review and comply with the additional requirements outlined on this page.
International Credential Evaluation & GPA Requirements
General Admission Requirements:
Before beginning your graduate application, review your programs specific admission requirements. View application deadlines and requirements for your program here.
- All applicants for graduate study at the University of Central Florida must hold a U.S. bachelor’s degree, or its equivalent, from an accredited or governmentally recognized institution of higher learning.
- Earned a GPA of 3.0, or its equivalent, in all work attempted while registered as an undergraduate student
- OR, a graduate degree, professional degree or equivalent from an accredited U.S. institution recognized by UCF or its equivalent from a foreign institution in a field related to the discipline of the program to which the student is applying.
Note: Meeting minimum requirements does not guarantee admission.
Credential Evaluation:
The College of Graduate Studies reviews academic credentials and conducts internal credential evaluations and GPA calculations for all international applicants. Certain graduate programs require a course by course external credential evaluation. We accept external evaluations from World Education Services (WES), Josef Silny and Associates, Inc., or The Evaluation Company.
Expedited Review–
Applicants are strongly encouraged to have an official, course by course evaluation sent directly from one of the above listed services to expedite the verification and evaluation of their international credentials. Transcripts and certificates that are provided as part of the evaluation report by the credential evaluation agency will be accepted as official.

- Master and Doctoral Applicants: If an outside evaluation is required, you will see the following statement; “Applicants applying to this program who have attended a college/university outside the United States must provide a course-by-course credential evaluation with GPA calculation. Credential evaluations are accepted from World Education Services (WES), Josef Silny and Associates, Inc., or The Evaluation Company only.”
Admitted students requesting international transfer credit must submit a course-by-course evaluation from WES, Silny, or the Evaluation Company.

The College of Graduate Studies reserves the right to request an external credential evaluation from World Education Services (WES), Josef Silny and Associates, Inc., or The Evaluation Company in certain circumstances and to verify the accuracy and authenticity of the academic records submitted.
Required Academic Credentials
For Admission Review
Applicants must upload a single PDF file that includes:
- The grading scale
- The front and back of all required transcripts and certificates
All documents must follow the guidelines listed in the Sample Country Requirements.
Important Upload Requirements
- Uploaded documents must be scanned copies of official transcript and degree certificates issued to you by the institution’s Registrar or Controller of Examinations.
- Unofficial transcripts, evaluations, or screenshots of grades from your institution’s student academic portal will NOT be accepted.
Special Requirements for Nepalese Degrees
We do not accept uploaded academic records from Nepal for admission review. All Nepalese transcripts and degree certificates must be:
- Verified, attested, and sealed by USEF Nepal.
- Sealed, official documents must contain USEF stamps on the envelop flag.

Translation Requirements
Applicants should submit:
- The original language documents
- A certified, literal English translation –
- All documentation submitted in a language other than English must be accompanied by a literal translation performed by a certified translator at the issuing institution, government agency, or by a translator certified by the American Translators Association.
After Admission Offer
Applicants who are offered admission and decide to enroll are required to submit officially attested paper copies of transcripts and degree certificates in a sealed university envelope that includes:
- An institutional seal
- Signature from the Registrar/Controller of Examinations on the envelope flap
- Documents notarized or certified by a commissioner of oaths are NOT accepted
- English translation, if applicable
Official documents must match uploaded versions. Any discrepancies, alterations, or omissions may result in revocation of admission.

- Official electronic copies sent directly by the Registrar’s Office to gradevals@ucf.edu. Sending email address must be verifiable on the institutions website.
Note: We do not accept faxed, photocopied, or emailed transcripts or degree certificates from applicants.

Additional notes:
- Documents submitted to UCF become property of the university and will not be returned. Do not send your only original transcript.
- Coursework listed on a second institution’s transcript must be accompanied by a transcript from the original institution.
- All test scores and credential evaluations from WES, Josef Silny, and The Evaluation Company must be sent directly from the issuing agency and will become part of your official UCF record.
- Academic credentials that are questionable or suspicious in any way will be verified with the issuing institution. In this event, the evaluation and admission process will be placed on hold until the university has received all necessary confirmation that documents submitted for admission consideration are authentic.

Foreign Influence Screening for Doctoral Applicants
Most Florida state colleges and universities, including the University of Central Florida (UCF) are required by state law to meet certain screening requirements before offering a Research or Research-Related Support Position, including doctoral student positions, to certain individuals. If this screening process applies to you, you must provide the documents and information requested of you upon accepting your admission offer. Please make sure to respond as soon as possible to any requests for information from UCF’s Third-Party Background Check Vendor and the Office of International Collaboration and Export Control.

NOTE: Failure to submit the required documentation may impact your eligibility for funding, your ability to engage in research at UCF and could result in the revocation of your admission offer.
Test Scores
The Graduate Record Examination (GRE) or Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) may be required for admission. Review your program requirements to determine if an admissions test is required.
English language proficiency scores are required of all non-native speakers. UCF accepts English proficiency exam scores from TOEFL iBT, IELTS, or Duolingo English Test (DET)
All test scores must be received directly from the relevant testing agency to be considered official. Please note GRE and GMAT scores are only valid for 5 years, TOEFL iBT, IELTS and Duolingo English Test scores are valid for 2 years from the original testing date.
Photocopies and expired test scores will not be accepted.
Entrance Exams
- Test scores will take several weeks to receive and process.
- Scores MUST be received by the university before the application deadline.
- Contact your program directly to determine if there are minimum GRE/GMAT score requirements for admission.
- Request the appropriate testing agency to send your scores directly to UCF using the UCF institution codes listed below.

If you have requested your scores to be sent and they are still not shown as received on your Application Status Portal after at least 2 weeks, provide the College of Graduate Studies with a copy of your unofficial score report so that we may attempt to locate your test scores.

NOTE: Certain graduate programs require higher TOEFL iBT, IELTS or DET scores. Review your programs application requirements for minimum score requirements.
You should arrange to take the TOEFL iBT, IELTS, or Duolingo English Test exam before submitting your online application for admission. It is important that ALL sections of the test be taken to ensure proper reporting of your scores.
English Proficiency Exam Exemptions:
The following applicants are exempt from the TOEFL, IELTS, or Duolingo English Test requirements:
- Those who are from countries where English is the only official language.
- Those who have earned a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Doctoral degree from a U.S. institution accredited by an accrediting body recognized by UCF.
- Those who have earned a degree equivalent to a U.S. Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Doctoral degree from a country where English is the only official language.
OR
- Those who have earned a degree equivalent to a U.S. Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Doctoral degree from a university where English is the only official language of instruction.
- Those who have successfully completed UCF’s English Language Institute Level 8 or higher with a grade of “B” or better.
- UCF Global Pearson Benchmark English Proficiency with minimum of 68 in all sub-scores.
All students who require English language proficiency scores are reviewed at application submission to determine exemption eligibility. Applicants who meet the criteria will have this requirement waived once an application fee has been received and their application has been processed.
