Fall Priority Deadline: Applicants who plan to enroll full time in a degree program and who wish to be considered for university fellowships or assistantships should apply by January 15 (or earlier if your program has a deadline prior to January 15).
General Information: For information on general UCF graduate admissions requirements that apply to all prospective students, please visit the Admissions section of the Graduate Catalog. Applicants must apply online. All requested materials must be submitted by the established deadline.
Admissions Test: If the GRE or GMAT is required, the specific test will be explicitly stated in the “Admissions Requirements” section of the program. Information on UCF’s English Language Proficiency Requirements (TOEFL/IELTS) can be found in the International Students section of the Graduate Catalog.

Application Requirements
- Evidence of a master’s degree in education.
- The GRE is not required for admission to this program.
- Three letters of recommendation
- Professional Resume
- The Professional Resume should highlight the applicant’s counseling-related experiences (as well as other work/volunteer experiences). It is highly suggested that applicants use the Resume Template in the crafting of their document, which would include (and provides examples of) the following:

- Personal Goal statement
- The Personal Goal statement indicates how the applicant’s personal and professional experiences align with their future goals in the Counselor Education Program and their future career as a professional counselor. It is highly suggested that applicants use the Goal Statement Template in the crafting of their statement, which addresses (and provides examples of) the following:
- Reflection on Personal Experiences
- Collection of Hands-on Experiences
- Connection to Personal Values
- The Personal Goal Statement should be between 500-700 words, typed using 12-point font in either Times New Roman or Arial, and will be uploaded with the application as either a Word document or a PDF file.
- Applicants are expected to generate their own work on the Personal Goal Statement and not to use AI.
- Applicants will need to bring 1 copy of their Personal Goal Statement with them to the interview.
- The Personal Goal statement indicates how the applicant’s personal and professional experiences align with their future goals in the Counselor Education Program and their future career as a professional counselor. - Applicants to this program, except those that have earned or will earn a Masters or Doctoral degree from an accredited U.S. institution recognized by UCF, who have attended a college/university outside the United States must provide a course-by-course credential evaluation with GPA calculation. Credential evaluations are accepted from World Education Services (WES) or Josef Silny and Associates, Inc. only.
The College of Community Innovation and Education reserves the right to refuse student entrance or terminate a student after admission to the Specialist in Education-School Counseling track, if in the judgment of the faculty, the student demonstrates unacceptable personal fitness to work in the counseling field with children, youth, and/or adults.
A formal interview is required and will be scheduled after the program admission requirements are met. The interview dates are posted on the Counselor Education Program website. Upon admittance, it is required that students attend the program orientation session that occurs on the Thursday before classes begin in the semester to which the student applied.
Admission to an Education Specialist program is separate from admission to the Doctoral program. Upon completion of the EdS degree, the student may apply for admission to a Doctoral program.

Application Requirement
- A baccalaureate degree in Education, Psychology, or related discipline.
- The GRE is not required for admission to this program.
- Undergraduate GPA of 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale) for the last 60 semester hours.
- Three letters of recommendation (one from a faculty member).
- Resumé.
- A one-page goal statement.
- Receive a favorable recommendation for admission by the School Psychology Review Committee.
- Applicants to this program, except those that have earned or will earn a Masters or Doctoral degree from an accredited U.S. institution recognized by UCF, who have attended a college/university outside the United States must provide a course-by-course credential evaluation with GPA calculation. Credential evaluations are accepted from World Education Services (WES) or Josef Silny and Associates, Inc. only.
This program can only accommodate a limited number of students; therefore, there is a possibility of being denied admission even when all criteria are met. Admissions to this program will only occur in the fall term.
